Thanks so much to all our members who donated their time & their baking, for us to then be able to run the cake stall again at Marlborough primary school on Saturday (27th June) - we made just over £100 on the day, so we donated £25 to Marlborough PTA. A lovely sunny day, bit breezy at times but we coped Just a couple of photos -

12 of our members had a lovely tour around the Hat Works in Stockport on Friday, 26th June. The weather was a little bit too hot for us all so plenty of drinks were needed. Would definitely recommend a visit with a tour guide, which takes about an hour & then we finished off with a browse around the shop & cold drinks in the cafe. We then made our way to the Stockport Plaza for an afternoon tea, which was delicious. A Lovely time was had by all Thanks to Dotty for organising

A WI Cheshire Peaks day out to Shrewsbury on Wednesday 15th July, another lovely sunny day wandering around the town, some members joined an informative walking tour & a boat tour whilst others had a leisurely lunch & meander around the shops & museum. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We welcomed April Ackerley, who is a Paramedic, to our July meeting (13/7/26), enabling us to learn how ‘Bystanders can be Lifesavers’. A lovely informative evening, where we were shown how to do CPR, how to use a defibrillator & put someone in the recovery position. A few of our members had a practice on ‘Rupert’ (as we named him on the night). April was one of our founding members & was our previous President, always lovely to catch up with her. A change to our scheduled speaker at this months meeting (Monday 8/6/26) as Peter Sykes was able to come along at short notice & tell us all about his time of being a Junior Hospital Doctor back in the 60’s. A lot of reminiscing as things were better back then in Peter’s view. A lively talk from him as he’s such a great character, all our members seemed to enjoy the meeting. Lovely to meet Margaret & Will Newman last night at our May meeting (11/5/26). They are passionately trying to raise funds for a rare disease, called Cystinosis which unfortunately their 10 year old Granddaughter, Ellie suffers from. Ellie is a twin but her sister Mollie doesn’t have it. Everything crossed that a cure is found very soon. A very interesting & informative evening for our April meeting (13/4/26). Ian Daniels from Lower Moss Wood Nature Reserve & Wildlife Hospital came along to inform us all about his background & how he became so involved with Lower Moss Wood. With his wife Elaine & his colleague Mia, Ian brought along a number of Owls which have been rescued over the years, it was fantastic to see them up close to appreciate their features, colourings & personalities. Nick Birchall was our March speaker (9/3/26), from Nantwich Cheese Shop telling us all about the History of Cheshire Cheese. The shop opened in 2020 during covid, they have since gone from strength to strength, with lots of cheeses made from the local area. Nick brought along 3 Cheshire cheeses for us all to sample - 1845 variety from Bourne cheese makers, Drunken Burt, flavoured with cider & Burt Blue both from Clare Burt Cheese makers (also all available from our Treacle Ma

16 bereavement bags and 19 syringe driver bags just dropped off at End of Life Partnership. They were gratefully received. Thank you to everyone who made bags, sourced material and buttons.

A very special February meeting last night (9/2/26), as we celebrated our 10th Birthday as well as welcoming Viv Bettley-Eagles & her Bollywood Dance for Fun group. We had invited the Founding Members of Tytherington Treacles along with our WI Advisor Vivien Lee.. Valerie Jones had baked a special Birthday cake and we all had a glass of Nosecco to celebrate. Twenty two of us enjoyed a fabulous evening at Elaf. Lots of fun and laughs, great food and the chance to interact with different members!

Our Christmas party was enjoyed by all - a lovely Christmassy Quiz, thanks to Julie Skelton our Quiz Master. Teams of 4 with Christmas themed names, thanks Pam. Platters of sandwiches, crisps & mince pies, fizz & Christmas crackers. Once again a fabulous raffle organised by Clare. Marlborough School Christmas Fair - Friday 5/12/25 We held a cake & Christmas goods stall - thank you to all our members who donated & to Chris, Elaine & Pam, who manned the stall. We made a grand total of £102 on the night - proceeds to our Birthday fund & a donation to the PTA of Marlborough. Thank you

Another lovely social evening at Periwinkle & Clay in Macclesfield, our members enjoyed making Christmas ornaments & decorations. Lots of chatting & laughter. Looking forward to seeing them all glazed.

Our November’s meeting (10/11/25) was our Annual Meeting & we also welcomed Sarah Parker from Bond St. Veterinary practice who gave us some very good advice regarding ‘Pet First Aid’. All our Committee have volunteered to stay on another year Our refreshment ladies were Carole Clipson & Chris Stewart, thank you so much for your help at our meeting.
